Mesa Drone Light Shows

Bring the whole community outside. We design custom drone light shows for Mesa holidays, festivals, corporate events, and private celebrations, and we’ve flown for the City of Mesa twice: 300 drones on July 4th, 2026, and a student-designed show for Merry Main Street. Tell us your date, location, and budget, and we’ll help you find the right show.

Ideas for your show

What Could Your Show Look Like?

These are ideas to start from, not a list of past shows. Every show is designed from scratch around your event.

Your logo or sponsor marks

Revealed one after another, each held long enough to read and photograph.

A message in the sky

Names, a date, a monogram, or a thank-you to the people who made the night happen.

Dimensional formations

Shapes that turn and shift with real depth, from 200 drones.

A scannable QR code

A code your guests open from their phones, from 300 drones.

Aerial screen projection

The drones hold a grid and light up like pixels to play imagery or video, at 500+ drones.

A finale on the last note

Formations timed to the musical arc of your soundtrack, landing the final image on the final beat.

Your evening

Where Does a Show Fit in Your Evening?

To open the night

Gather guests once it is fully dark and start the evening with something everyone sees together.

For a reveal

A sponsor, a product, an announcement, or a name, placed at the point in the program where it lands hardest.

To mark a celebration

A toast, a countdown, an anniversary, or a thank-you, with the whole crowd looking up at the same moment.

As the finale

Send guests off with the last thing they see, and the first thing they mention the next morning.

Shows run 11–14 minutes and need full darkness, so plan the slot for after dusk. Once a show launches it runs as programmed, so give it a clear start time in your run-of-show; we stay on a radio channel with your event director or DJ so it begins on cue.

Venue planning

Planning a Show at Your Mesa Venue

Mesa shows happen in parks and civic spaces, along downtown for community celebrations, at event grounds, and at private properties. Each one is planned around its own layout, so we assess your site before anything is designed.

Parks and civic spaces

Open public spaces with room to set the audience area well apart from the flight area, coordinated with your events team and the city.

Festival and event grounds

Large open venues built for a crowd watching together, with the show placed in open sky beside the audience rather than above it.

Private estates and backyards

Private events where one signature moment matters more than scale, as long as there is open sky beyond the guests.

Open sky over the flight area

Shows are outdoors and after dark. The flight area needs clear, open sky above it; indoor and daytime events are the wrong fit for a drone show.

Audience and flight areas stay separate

Your guests watch from a defined audience area, and the drones fly in their own area in the sky nearby. We never fly over people or active streets.

Facing the right way

We place the show for the best viewing angle and distance from where your guests will actually be standing or seated.

A launch area we can reach

The launch site needs to be accessible and clear of obstructions on show day, with room for our crew and equipment.

What your guests experience

Everyone watches the same show from one direction, for 11–14 minutes, with the soundtrack carrying it. It is easy to film and photograph, and nobody needs to move once it starts.

Every site is assessed before design begins, and final site plans are shared with you before the design phase. If a location will not work, we will tell you early rather than design around a problem.

How it works

From First Call to Show Night

Step · 01

Planning

We map your site and share final site plans before design begins, alongside insurance certificates and any FAA or city approvals the show needs.

Step · 02

Design

Storyboards, then animated renderings of the show in real time, set to its soundtrack. Nothing goes to programming until you approve what you have seen.

Step · 03

Flight

Our crew arrives 6–8 hours before the show, runs multiple safety tests before launch, and flies with 2 licensed pilots, technicians, and an on-site production team.

What we handle

  • Creative development, storyboards, and real-time animated renderings
  • Choreography, programming, and music synchronization
  • FAA authorizations, airspace coordination, and city or county permitting
  • Event-specific liability coverage of $5M+, with certificates of insurance naming your venue on request
  • Licensed pilots, technicians, and on-site crew, with setup and teardown
  • Direct access to the team assigned to your flight, from planning through show night

What we need from you

  • Your date, location, and a rough run-of-show for the evening
  • Your soundtrack, or a brief for us to build one around
  • Logo files and brand guidelines, if the show carries your brand
  • A launch site that is accessible and clear on show day
  • Coordination with your venue so our crew and equipment can get in
  • A quick heads-up if the date, location, or audience layout changes

See the full process or read the planning guide.

Safety and weather

How We Keep Your Show Safe

  • We never fly over people or active streets. Audience and flight areas stay separate on every show.
  • Five systems keep each show inside its flight area: geofencing, real-time telemetry, automated return-to-home, redundant positioning, and on-site safety officers.
  • Every show is flown by licensed pilots with site-specific safety planning.
  • We work to hard weather limits and share the standards in your planning deck. The pilot makes the final call on site, and that call never overrides a limit.
  • If weather prevents a safe show, we reschedule to the next available date at no extra charge. Safety is always the final decision driver.

FAQs

Mesa Drone Show Questions

It depends on where your venue sits. Airspace near an airport needs FAA authorization, which we request and coordinate as part of your quote. We review your site’s airspace early in planning, so you know where things stand before design begins.

Yes. City and community celebrations are a core part of what we do, and we work alongside your events team on the run-of-show, the site, and the approvals. Reduced rates are available for municipalities, quoted case by case.

Yes. Merry Main Street was designed by students in ASU’s Designing Drone Light Shows course, working alongside our team through the MediatedX Lab. Tell us what you have in mind and we’ll scope how students can be involved.

For a Mesa event, use $10–30K, $30–60K, and $60K+ as planning ranges. Your proposal reflects the creative scope, show scale, venue, and event date. There is no Arizona travel premium. Tell us what you're planning and we'll recommend a configuration and provide a tailored quote.

There is no fixed minimum. Tell us your date and we will look at what it needs: the venue, the creative scope, and any airspace or city approvals. Peak dates (July 4th, New Year’s Eve, and holidays) price higher and fill earlier, so it is worth starting those conversations sooner.

Shows run 11–14 minutes. Where yours lands depends on how many scenes you want and how the show fits into your evening.

You don't need to work that out yourself. We fly shows from 100 to 1,500 drones and recommend a size from what you want in the sky: a logo and a message can work with 100, QR codes need 300, and aerial screen projection takes 500+.

We work to hard weather limits, and the pilot makes the final call on site. If conditions prevent a safe show, we reschedule to the next available date at no extra charge. Safety is always the final decision driver.

No. There is no travel premium anywhere in Arizona, so a Mesa show carries no mileage line. Your quote still reflects the show itself and the requirements of your site.
